Active Ingredient/Content

  • Acyclovir 200mg

Efficacy/Indication

  • Acute treatment of herpes zoster (shingles).
  • Treatment of initial and recurrent episodes of genital herpes.
  • Treatment of chickenpox (varicella).

Administration/Dosage

  • Adults:
  • -Herpes Zoster: 800mg q4h, 5X/day for 7-10 days.
  • Genital Herpes: Initial Therapy: 200mg q4h, 5X/day for 10 days.
  • Chronic Therapy: 400mg bid or 200mg 3-5X/day up to 12months, then reevaluate.
  • Intermittent Therapy: 200mg q4h, 5X/day for 5 days; start at 1st sign/symptom of recurrence.
  • Chickenpox: 800mg qid for 5days; start at earliest sign/symptom.
  • Renal Impairment: Refer to PI for dose modifications
